Whether you’re a seasoned globetrotter, or planning a routine family getaway, travel insurance can help to take care of the unforeseen problems – from canceled flights to serious illnesses and more. It protects your trip investment, so you have the peace of mind to focus on making memories, not worrying about the details.

Life is full of unexpected surprises. In the event that you need to cancel or interrupt your trip, travel coverage can reimburse you for the pre-paid, non-refundable portions of your trip. It also can cover medical expenses, lost, damaged or stolen luggage and personal effects. Most travel plans also include 24/7 assistance services to re-book flights and hotels on your behalf and act as a personal travel assistant while you're away from home. Nice, huh?
-
Good news – most travel insurance plans can be purchased up to 24 hours before your trip departure date. Bon Voyage!

Great question. Unfortunately in most cases your medical coverage will not cover expenses outside of the United States.
-
Short answer? It depends. Exclusions for pre-existing medical conditions would likely apply depending on your plan. Typically this is based on the date of your first diagnosis, a change in diagnosis or a change in medication during the 60, 90 or 180 day look-back period before the effective date of coverage. The date of the first deposit on your trip can also determine whether you qualify for the pre-existing medical condition waiver.

In most cases, the cost of travel insurance is based on the value of the trip and the age of the traveler – and is surprisingly affordable! Typically, the cost is between 5 and 7 percent of the total trip cost.
